Veggie Fiesta Fun!

Saturday’s Veggie Fiesta was the best time ever!  Okay, it was a little cold and windy, but that couldn’t chill the spirits of our student culinary team who planned for months on the food and games, and lest we forget – the Ultimate Top 10 ways to make vegetables delicious.  Eighteenth Street patrons sampled a yummy Penne alla Amatriciana featuring caramelized onions (thank you Delfina crew), a healthy avocado smoothie (courtesy of Anna and Rachel of Dolores Park Cafe), a vibrant carrot salad (mucho gracias to our very own culinary team), and indulged in rhubarb swirl ice cream whipped up by Anne and Kris from the Creamery.  Our crafty games including Food Jeopardy, the Vegetable Pantry Riddle and Wheel of Fortune were an even bigger hit than the food – imagine that!  Maybe it was the handy and stylish Ultimate Top 10 tote bag that went to our knowledgeable winners.  Our team “awarded”  250 tote bags and  raised $1,319 from the drawing.  Go team!

Quite a few people wanted us to post the VEGGIE FIESTA RECIPEs, along with some of our students’ favorites from the Eat UR Veggies classes.

This event would not have been possible without the support of our kindhearted sponsors:  Bi-Rite Market and Creamery, Delfina, Dolores Park Cafe, Veritable Vegetable and 1 Fort Mason.  And, a big thank you to our friends at Tartine for providing a gift certificate for the drawing.

Here are just a few pics from this awesome event!
